knock it off.Jerry didn't vote.Really sad if this country is influence to vote because a musician or comedian told them to.
if you want real change get rid of the corporate lobbyist.
your so blind that you don't even notice the government using a old strategy of divide and conquer.the country is split 50/50 and you guys keep ranting about each others party while the fat pig behind the curtain is laughing.DIVIDE ET IMPERA
I'm going to resurrect Thomas Paine to come kick everyone's asses.the guidelines of success are outlined in the following.
Common Sense- The Crisis - Rights of Man- The Age of Reason.
oh i forgot Thomas Paine is considered a domestic terrorist these days.wake up and unite.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure"- Thomas Jefferson

Is that an obscene gesture or it is a happy emoticon? (I could say my tongue is firmly in my cheek, but that's just not my style.)

If not for Common Sense or The American Crisis we might not be here. But, T.P. did lose his head a bit when he moved to France.

You are a bad, bad man.

Let's hope that regardless we can put this election to bed in the next twelve hours or so.

"You are a bad, bad man."

Who? Me?

"Let's hope that regardless we can put this election to bed in the next twelve hours or so."

Amen.

But you know, Biden has already announced his hopes for 2016.

"Amazing Grace" has always been a favorite of mine. Aaron Neville has the voice of a angel.

Here's a little different take.

I love how one of the reviewers suggests he changes the lyrics at the 2:11 mark. Uh, no.

Combover Joe nominated me for appointment to the Naval Academy in 1978. During the interview process I remember asking myself "Is this knucklehead really a US Senator?"

He's a high functioning idiot.

And of course, I declined his nomination and instead accepted the nomination from Senator William Roth.

Honey Boo Boo woud be a better choice in 2016.....

Nixon for American Youth 1968 is a one-minute Nixon campaign commercial. My link is the YouTube video. Nixon ad portrays Jerry as Captain Trips (with hat) at the 12-second mark. Hands down, it's the best Jerry-political ad ever produced, period.

Hilarious! The shot goes to Jerry right as Nixon's voice hits the word "fringes" in "American youth today has it's fringes..."

Good post - and the pic reminds me of a favorite excerpt from one of my favorite book series

Dinner in the officers' mess. The captain is inebriated, but asks apparently seriously]
Capt. Jack Aubrey: Do you see those two weevils doctor?
Dr. Stephen Maturin: I do.
Capt. Jack Aubrey: Which would you choose?
Dr. Stephen Maturin: [sighs annoyed] Neither; there is not a scrap a difference between them. They are the same species of Curculio.
Capt. Jack Aubrey: If you had to choose. If you were forced to make a choice. If there was no other response...
Dr. Stephen Maturin: [Exasperated] Well then if you are going to *push* me...
[the doctor studies the weevils briefly]
Dr. Stephen Maturin: ...I would choose the right hand weevil; it has... significant advantage in both length and breadth.
[the captain thumps his fist in the table]
Capt. Jack Aubrey: There, I have you! You're completely dished! Do you not know that in the service...
[pauses]
Capt. Jack Aubrey: ...one must always choose the lesser of two weevils.
[the officers burst out in laughter]

From the Fortune of War but used in the movie "Master and Commander".

I mistakenly cut and paste the exchange from the movie, here it is from the book:

Two weevils crept from the crumbs. “You see those weevils, Stephen?” said Jack solemnly.

“I do.”

“Which would you choose?”

“There is not a scrap of difference. Arcades ambo. They are the same species of curculio, and there is nothing to choose between them.”

“But suppose you had to choose?”

“Then I should choose the right-hand weevil; it has a perceptible advantage in both length and breadth.”

“There I have you,” cried Jack. “You are bit — you are completely dished. Don’t you know that in the Navy you must always choose the lesser of two weevils? Oh ha, ha, ha, ha!”

I love the Aubry Maturin series, as well as Patrick O'Brian's lesser known other stories / books. He is also quite interesting character on his own.

I picked up Master and Commander after we last talked about this, but you need to be a sailor or at least very familiar with wooden ships. Very well written, very technical and one day I will learn the terminology and have a model- computer or otherwise. Maybe I should get my butt out on the water more and do something other then tend bar (ect,) and keep the vittles going. Horatio Hornblower until then. And yeah, Patrick O'Brian is in the Jerry Garcia school on how to handle celebrity- which I respect immensely. It must have taken steel balls to be a spy in France(?) during WW2.

I'm sorry that I didn't check in and that you were in the teeth of the storm. I'm glad everyone is safe. I hope you get power and clean up ASAP.

> (the house) was built in 1859 and it is the first time the water got above the main floor

Now that is incredible.

Yup, and my ex had the old growth long leaf yellow pine floor ripped out without even consulting me! I could have removed the wood myself and sold it - that old longleaf yellow pine goes for good money.

Oh Well

I noticed the band got much more political after Garcia passed

I don't think the campaigning fund raisers would have happened with Garcia - he wouldn't have been comfortable with it
